Who's Correct Senator Hatch? You or Ezra Taft Benson?

Posted by Marty Jensen

Senator Hatch,

Your staff tells me you're in favor of military intervention in Libya: I'm not. Allow me to offer you a quote for your consideration:

"There is one and only one legitimate goal of United States foreign policy. It is a narrow goal, a nationalistic goal: the preservation of our national independence. Nothing in the Constitution grants that the president shall have the privilege of offering himself as a world leader. He is our executive; he is on our payroll; he is supposed to put our best interests in front of those of other nations. Nothing in the Constitution nor in logic grants to the president of the United States or to Congress the power to influence the political life of other countries, to ‘uplift' their cultures, to bolster their economies, to feed their people, or even to defend them against their enemies." (The Teachings of Ezra Taft Benson, p. 614; see also pp. 682 & 704.)

Who's right? You and your support of military intervention in Libya, or Ezra Taft Benson?

Thanks Marty, I also have sent a copy of this information registered mail to the office of Hatch, I have sent it to the general assembly of the Utah legislature, and to all my local representatives. This can not be made more clear than in the 1941 letter. It is precise, gospel laid foundation. Any deviation of this logic is purely evil.

No war without Congressional approval. Allowing the President his own army to attach whomever is dangerous.
