Obama Is Not (all of) the Problem

This was written in response to an email originated by Ms. Kathleen Lyday of Hillsboro, Missouri. In her email, Ms. Lyday expressed her frustration and outrage towards President Obama, and listed some of his "un-American" attitudes and activities. I agree with Ms. Lyday. I wish to add more to the discussion and go to the heart of the matter - the erosion of our liberties by not abiding by and governing by constitutional principles.

Ms Lyday,

I agree with you--President Obama is not a true American. He is not loyal to the United States. Why? Because he is a globalist. He believes America is no better than any other country. He believes that ultimately all of the world should be one government (and he's not alone). But President Obama is not the problem. The problem is that we haven't followed the Constitution as we should.

Because we haven't followed the Constitution, the Federal government has too much power. Over the years the Federal government has taken powers the Constitution does not allow it to have. The Federal government has taken over powers which belong to the people and the states.

The Founding Fathers said that our Creator made people free. They said the power to govern comes from the people. We use our power to govern by electing leaders. We give leaders power to create laws which benefit us. For example, highway laws--a set of rules we all follow to avoid accidents. But the power to make laws and enforce them was given to our leaders by we, the people. That power is ours to give, and ours to take back. The people are higher than the government.

We are the masters, the government is our servant. Government exists to serve us. But a servant can become more powerful than the masters. When this happens, the servant stops serving. It doesn't do what the masters want it to do. The servant does what it wants to do. The masters have become servants - they have lost their freedom. To prevent this the masters must limit the power of the servant and keep it limited.

It is the same with government. A government which grows too powerful stops serving. It doesn't do what the people want it to do. The government does what it wants to do. The people have become servants to the government - they have lost their freedom. To prevent this the people must limit the power of government and keep it limited.

The Founders wrote the Constitution to limit the power of government. During their lifetimes, they worked to keep the power of government limited.

Since the founding, we the people haven't done a good job of keeping the power of government limited. Our government has grown in size and power. It has stopped serving. It doesn't do what we want it to do. It does what it wants to do. We have become servants to the government - we have lost our freedom. We have become lower than the government.

In the government which has become our master, Obama is the most prominent leader. He isn't serving us. He isn't doing what we want him to do. He is doing what he wants to do. Other leaders have also stopped serving us-they are doing what they want to do. One example is the $700 billion bailout: the people overwhelmingly told their leaders not to do it. Yet they passed the bailout bill (and most of them hadn't even read it). Against our wishes, they put us in debt and are now giving away our money to bankers in America and in foreign countries. The United States are now the principle owners of very large banks and auto manufacturers. America is now a socialist, fascist nation. This is but one of many examples.

We are in grave danger of losing our freedom. We must awaken to this awful situation. The concentration of power in government is growing rapidly. We must remember what freedom is, and teach it to others. We must warn others. We must return to the Constitution before it's too late. We must protect and defend the Constitution at all costs. We must listen to what other defenders of the Constitution are saying. We must act now and insist that our elected leaders honor and follow the Constitution. We must get involved-now!

When we follow the Constitution as we should, we will have leaders who are true Americans. We will have leaders who are loyal to the United States. We will have leaders who want America to be a free nation, and not part of a world government. We will have a more limited government. We will be the masters of our government. The government will not do what it wants to do. The government will do what we want it to do. The government will once again serve. We will again be the masters. We will again be free.
